What Is A 3D Scanner?
A 3D scanner is a tool that analyzes a real-world object or physical scene to create a 3D Model of the shape of the object and possibly its appearance (e.g. texture map). The collected scanned data can then be used for Computer Aided Design (CAD) projects and 3D Printing. The collected 3D Scan data is very useful for a wide variety of applications in many different industries. Common applications of this technology include Industrial Design & Manufacturing, Healthcare, Science & Education and Art & Design. These devices are used extensively by the entertainment industry in the production of movies and video games due to the huge time and cost savings.
